The Pediatric Residency Program at 7mÊÓƵ, fully accredited by the ACGME, provides an extraordinary array of training opportunities from community-based practice to extensive research in subspecialty pediatrics at one of the most advanced medical centers in the world.

Mission: Through a trainee-driven, collaborative, and adaptive curriculum, our mission is to train a diverse community of emerging leaders in pediatric medicine who excel in the clinical care of patients both locally and globally, advocate for the equitable care of all children, and drive innovation in research, teaching, and educational scholarship

Aims:

  1. To cultivate a training environment where the equitable care of patients remains the cornerstone of the resident educational experience
  2. To provide a supportive learning environment that practices and promotes life-long learning, transparent inquiry, and growth mindset principles
  3. To recruit individuals from diverse interests, backgrounds, and experiences to join in knowledge-sharing practices that strengthen our ability to provide the best medical care for the communities we serve
  4. To foster a culture of mutual respect among all members of the healthcare team, where every member is heard, valued and respected.\
  5. To provide residents with a solid foundation in general pediatrics and the necessary mentorship, experiences, and skills that will enable them to succeed as generalists, subspecialists, medical educators, and researchers

Texas Children’s Hospital

Texas Children’s Hospital is an internationally recognized, full-care pediatric hospital located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. It is the largest pediatric hospital in the United States, staffed by BCM clinical faculty and is dedicated to providing the finest possible pediatric patient care, education and research. The 2023 - 2024 edition of Best Children’s Hospital by ranked Texas Children’s Hospital third in the country among the nearly 200 pediatric centers. For the fifteenth straight year, Texas Children’s’ Hospital was placed on the Best Children’s Hospital Honor Roll of best pediatric institutions."  Texas Children’s Hospital is one of the only 10 children’s hospitals across the country to achieve the Honor Roll designation, and the only hospital in Texas – and the southern United States – awarded this distinction.

Ben Taub Hospital

Ben Taub Hospital is part of the Harris Health System and provides care for low-income families who depend primarily on the Health System for their health care. The pediatric department provides care for newborns in the Level I, II, and III nurseries at this facility. Staffed by physician faculty and residents from BCM, Ben Taub serves as a teaching facility to the next generation of healthcare providers. The Harris Health System operates an outpatient facility devoted exclusively to the care of infants, children, and adolescents in Pasadena, a Houston suburb. Residents appreciate the opportunity to give back to their community by helping to provide care to the underserved.
