Dr. Lee to serve on Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation Science Advisory Board

Dr. Hyun-Sung Lee, assistant professor of surgery, has been elected to serve as a member of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation Science Advisory Board. SAB consists of doctors and researchers who review and score the applications submitted for research grants to ensure there is a fair, equitable, timely and bias-free review. Members will be called upon for expert opinions and advice on behalf of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. Dr. Lee鈥檚 term begins immediately and will conclude Dec. 31, 2023 where he will have the option to renew for a second term.  
 
Dr. Lee is particularly enthusiastic about 鈥淪ystems Immunology鈥 in the field of immuno-oncology. Dr. Lee鈥檚 overarching goals are to identify potential therapeutic targets and develop strong prognostic or predictive determinants for the management of thoracic malignancies by applying systems immunology approaches comprehensively integrating high-dimensional single-cell platforms, mass spectrometry, and next-generation sequencing data. Dr. Lee has recently launched the Systems Onco-Immunology Laboratory (SOIL) to investigate cancer-immune system networks and inform the design of novel approaches to immunotherapy. Dr. Hyun-Sung Lee鈥檚 most substantial expertise lies in grasping the clinical implications of translational research and bridging our advancing science to meet the critical needs within thoracic oncology.鈥
