There are many venues in which to present your research findings, both within BCM and at external conferences. Your research mentor is likely to be an excellent source of information regarding conferences and journal within your field of research. You also may wish to consider the information on the to find conference opportunities related to your specialty or project type, and refer to the Research Publication Resources at the bottom of this page to learn more about open-access publishing support and guidance on where to publish your work. Additionally, students are encouraged to visit the Student Resources section of the SOAR webpage for tips on how to prepare an abstract or research presentation.

SOAR External Conferences Catalog

A list of external conference opportunities is available, encompassing local, state, regional, national, and international conferences. This searchable resource has been compiled with conference suggestions from individual students and student interest groups. Each entry contains information on the conferences, their suggested research/specialty area, and project type, with website links to obtain up-to-date conference information. Check back from time to time, as new conference listings will be added monthly.

Conference websites should be consulted for information on conference locations, abstract submission guidelines, registration costs, and deadlines. Many conferences offer student discounts and travel awards to help reduce the costs of attending. Consult the website of your conference of interest to find out how to apply. Henry J.N. Taub & James K. Alexander Medical Student Research Symposium
Conference Month: March

This research symposium provides a mechanism in which students can showcase their research projects. It is an institutional opportunity to present data in a poster format to update the BCM community on your research progress.

TEACH-S Educational Symposium
Conference Month: May

Each year, the Texas Educator’s Academies Collaborative for Health Professions representing UTHealth, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Houston - College of Medicine, UTMB-Galveston, and 7mÊÓƵ host a one-day symposium focused on the Learning Environment of the Future. This event provides a forum for showcasing scholarly innovations of the regional community of educators. It is a daylong event with a keynote session, workshops, small group discussions, and oral & poster presentations.

Annual Showcase of Educational Scholarship

The annual Academy of Distinguished Educators Showcase of Educational Scholarship is Baylor's premier venue for highlighting educational scholarship using a peer-reviewed format. The showcase was first held in 2005 and since that time, the annual showcase has established a venue for sharing, discussing, and promoting scholarly work by students, residents, fellows and faculty at the College.

Research Publication Resources 

The Read and Publish model offers medical students opportunities to publish their research findings in open-access journals at no or reduced cost through institutional agreements. By participating, students can retain copyright and increase the visibility of their work, all while contributing to global research accessibility.
