An abstract serves as a succinct summary of your research, highlighting the key aspects of your project.

Abstract Guidelines
To ensure the acceptance of your abstract, it must adhere to criteria below. While most abstracts are approved, students with abstracts that do not meet these criteria will be asked to make revisions.

Citations and References
When preparing your abstract for submission, please refrain from including citations or references. Abstracts should be concise summaries, providing a brief overview of your research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. The aim is to maintain brevity and focus on key information, ensuring that the abstract serves as a standalone piece for conference attendees.

Acknowledgements and Affiliations:
When crafting your abstract for submission, limit the inclusion of acknowledgments and affiliations. The focus of the abstract should be on providing a concise summary of your research, covering objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. While brief acknowledgments for funding or support are acceptable, extensive details should be reserved for poster display purposes. Keep affiliations succinct, providing only essential institutional context. This ensures that the abstract remains focused and serves its primary purpose of delivering a quick overview of the study to conference attendees.

• Formatting
  • Ensure the title is formatted in title case
  • Capitalize and italicize all genus and species names correctly as per the style guide
  • Eliminate any extra spaces at the beginning of the abstract or title
  • Craft the abstract as a single paragraph, without any section headings
  • Keep citations to a minimum or completely exclude them
• Spelling and Punctuation
  • Verify that there are no spelling or punctuation errors
  • Use either present or past tense
• Context or Purpose
  • Provide a clear explanation of the purpose, background, or context of the research
• Hypothesis and Project Focus
  • Clearly articulate what you aim to learn or understand and outline your research objectives
• Methods
  • Describe your research methodology and how you are conducting the research
• Expected or Preliminary Results
  • Outline the results or preliminary findings
  • If your research is ongoing, discuss the anticipated results
• Implications
  • Explain the significance of your research, its potential impact on the field and any implications of your future work
  • Collaborate with your mentor to review your abstract and title before submissions

• Lead Presenter and Co-Presenters
  • There should only be one abstract submission form submitted per abstract
  • Each abstract should have at least one presenter and no more than ten
  • For group presentations, the leading presenter should input all co-presenters' details on one abstract submission form
  • All presenters' identified on the abstract submission form will receive an email confirming the group's participation
• Research Mentors
  • You will be required to provide the names and email addresses or your research mentors
